Robert J. Jones, president of the University at Albany, State University of New York (SUNY), an experienced and accomplished scientist and research university leader, was named chancellor of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on Tuesday, pending formal approval by the Board of Trustees at its July 21 meeting.
