State and Local Relations
As part of External Relations and Communications, state relations staff work closely with the Illinois General Assembly and local officials to promote the education, research, health, and economic development missions of the University of Illinois System.
Services and Function
State relations staff serve the faculty, staff, and students of the three universities and the University of Illinois System offices.
State Relations:
- monitors bills and initiatives in the General Assembly in Springfield
- disseminates information to the U of I System
- assists university units in researching issues and connecting them with appropriate state government offices and staff
- works with federal relations staff in Washington, DC, to advance the U of I System
- collaborates with Illinois Connection, the University of Illinois System's advocacy network
