Mental Health Training Modules

The University of Illinois System created this series of mental health trainings to meet several of the requirements in the Mental Health Early Action on Campus (MHEAC) Act. These training courses provide education on identifying and addressing mental health concerns, common mental health conditions, the ADA and Rehabilitation Act, and available resources both on-campus and within the community.

The MHEAC Act is intended to address gaps in mental health services on college campuses across Illinois through training, peer support, and community-campus partnerships. The purpose of the Act is to identify students with mental health needs and connect them to services; increase access to services on campus and within the community; empower students through peer support and training on identifying mental health needs and resources.

  Foundation Module

Through interactive, self-paced learning, this training will help you develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to recognize mental health challenges, understand their impact, and respond with empathy and appropriate action.

  Instructor Module

Instructor observations, even small ones, can make a major difference in early support. This course is designed to help you to notice early signs of distress, show compassion, and connect students to appropriate support.

  Student Module

You don’t need to be a mental health expert to make a difference. As a friend or peer, your regular contact with other students puts you in a position to notice early signs of distress. This course will help you to identify and respond to mental health challenges in others.

  Staff Module

Workplace wellness is about creating an environment where employees can thrive both personally and professionally. Supporting employee well-being helps build a culture of care, resilience, and long-term success.
