Mental Health and Wellbeing

Preparing students, faculty and staff to flourish in the world that awaits them requires a commitment to every aspect of their development.

Mental health is more critical than ever with the stresses of the post-COVID-19 pandemic world, an economic downturn, and a renewed nationwide push for social justice.

To help students, faculty and staff, we launched an ongoing series of system-wide events focused on promoting their mental and emotional wellbeing. I hope you will join us and add your insights and expertise to this important conversation, which will build on our long legacy of world-class service to students, faculty, staff, and the public good.

The University of Illinois System is committed to supporting the mental health of all students, faculty, and staff throughout the system. To this end, we are providing this website along with the training and resources it provides access to, as well as an annual symposium to further encourage community wellness.

Community Mindset Program

In addition to the resources mentioned above, the Office of the Executive Vice President/Vice President of Academic Affairs has provided sponsorship funds, supplemented in many cases by speakers waiving their symposium speaker honorariums, to support student well-being initiatives. Each of the five university student mental health subgroups (UIUC, UIS, UIC, UICCOM, and the System Office [SO- included for the first time in fall 2023]) received additional funding from the EVP to implement a student-focused well-being initiative.
