IDEALL Visit, January 2016

In January, President Tim Killeen visited the IDEALL facility in the Education Building on the Urbana campus.

IDEALL stands for Illinois Digital Ecologies and Learning Laboratory -- a data collection environment for research on emerging technologies. Scholars study learner interactions with digital technologies in real time while collecting massive amounts of varied data. Faculty members in disciplines across campus can use IDEALL to pursue research agendas that demonstrate how technology can support learning in classrooms, museums, and other environments.

The lab is also used for courses that explore the role that game structures play in learning. The cutting-edge facility includes a main laboratory, a control room that looks into the lab, and an adjacent interview room.

President Killeen visited the lab along with senior staff from Urbana administration, including interim Chancellor Barbara Wilson, interim Provost Ed Feser, and several deans.
