Shared Enterprise Initiatives

web.uillinois.edu provides a central location for multiple different University of Illinois System web sites, including several projects and initiatives for the System. Many of these sites are cross-unit or cross-system initiatives that are collaborations among different groups. The web.uillinois.edu site provides a quick and efficient means of generating web sites for these types of projects:

  • SitePublish is a Content Management System used at the U of I System. It provides an easy-to-use interface for non-technical content managers, as well as features such as blogs, discussion forums, workspaces, forms, knowledge repositories, and more.
  • SharePoint is a tool for collaboration that helps groups of people (whether work teams or social groups) share information and work together.
  • Identity and Access Management (IAM) is a project to improve identity and access management at the University of Illinois System which will in turn reduce operations costs, increase security and improve business agility.
  • Box Cloud Services (Box.com) allows students, faculty and staff the mobility and space as well as the functionality to collaborate with fellow users by sharing content.
  • The AITS Office of Data Automation team is available to assist with projects involving automation of manual business processes and integration of electronic documents. Enterprise services include Event Registration, Workflow, and Document Imaging through the use of tools including FormBuilder, Banner Workflow, and BDMS/Xtender.

  • Subversion -Source Code Version Control systems maintain revision history as files change over time. It allows multiple users to work on the same text file simultaneously, merging changes automatically. Subversion stores information about and allows reversion to any previous state of any file in the repository.
  • The University of Illinois System is shifting to Web Intelligence (Webi) as its primary reporting tool; Desktop Intelligence (Deski) will no longer be available as the supported software to retrieve and analyze data from the Data Warehouse. As part of this upgrade, existing Desktop Intelligence users will need to convert reports to Web Intelligence.
  • Lynda.com is an online learning site that helps anyone learn software, design and business skills to achieve personal and professional goals. These video based tutorials are taught by industry experts and available 24/7 for convenient, self-paced learning. Access is available today to all University of Illinois System students, faculty and staff.
  • Start myResearch will modernize and streamline the research enterprise at the University of Illinois System. This project combines the implementation of a grants management and compliance software with the launch of a Principal Investigator (PI) portal providing faculty with grant related information from a number of different university systems.
  • The System Status website is available for use by all University of Illinois System IT groups. The website is used to convey information to U of I System users about IT system outages and planned maintenance work. Users can also opt to subscribe to receive Email notifications when events are posted on the site.
  •  The University of Illinois Community Source collaboration site is an environment that provides tools for developers to discover web services, get access to data through enterprise data objects, and work jointly with other developers on software development projects.
