UIC in Peoria
The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) opened its doors in 1970 as part of a state mandate to expand medical education opportunities to different parts of Illinois. Since then UICOMP has provided combined services of patient care, education and training, clinical research, job creation, volunteerism, community outreach, and facility development. The satellite campus strives to enrich the quality of health care and everyday life throughout the Heart of Illinois.
Also located in the city is UIC's College of Nursing Peoria Regional Program. Established in 1974, the program offers a Master of Science in Nursing degree and Doctorate of Nursing Practice degrees in 12 specialties. Also offered is an online RN-to-BSN completion program, and a RN-to-MS transition program. At the graduate level many courses are delivered online and via video conference with other College of Nursing regional locations. The Peoria program also offers a broad array of clinical experience within the central Illinois area.
The Peoria regional campus is also home to the Library of Health Sciences.
UIS in Peoria
The University of Illinois at Springfield’s Peoria Center has been serving the educational needs of transfer students in the Peoria area for more than twenty-five years. The primarily nights and weekend schedule accommodates working students, as well as UIS faculty who teach in Peoria.
Programs offered at the Peoria Center include undergraduate degrees in accountancy, management and criminal justice as well as a master’s degree in business administration.
UIS is a leader in online education. The Peoria Center also offers three business degree completion programs online.
