Mobile Application Privacy Notice

Introduction

BY INSTALLING, USING OR OTHERWISE ACCESSING THE FRATS APPLICATION FROM ANY DEVICE, MOBILE OR OTHERWISE, YOU ARE AGREEING TO ABIDE BY THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS PRIVACY NOTICE. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, DO NOT DOWNLOAD AND/OR ACCESS OUR APPLICATION. BY USING THIS APPLICATION, YOU ARE CONSENTING TO THE COLLECTION, USE, AND DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS PRIVACY NOTICE

This Privacy Notice sets forth how your information is collected, used, transferred, and stored through the mobile application titled “FS Ride Driver” (“Application”) and the terms and conditions governing your use of the Application. The Application was created by the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and is owned by the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois (“University,” “we,” “our,” “us”).

This Privacy Notice is subject to the Application Terms of Service; the University of Illinois System Privacy Statement, which contains among other sections the Rules for Individuals under Thirteen Years of Age; the Legal Notice and Terms of Use, which contains among other provisions, disclaimers of: liability, warranties and accuracy of data, endorsement, external links, and duties regarding data; and the University of Illinois Supplemental Privacy Notice for certain persons in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom (Supplemental Privacy Notice).

1. What information may the Application collect?

a) Personal Information

“Personal Information” for purposes of this Privacy Notice means information that can be used to identify, contact, or locate an individual, such as, your name, address, phone number, or email address.

The Application collects certain Personal Information, including email, name, age, height, weight and gender. You are not required to provide the Personal Information requested by the Application; however, you may not be able to use some of the features offered by the Application if you choose not to provide your Personal Information. By providing us with your Personal Information, you are consenting to our use of it in accordance with this Privacy Notice, the University of Illinois System Privacy Statement, and the Supplemental Privacy Notice.

This Application may collect geo-tagging information if using the photo or video functionality. If you do not wish to share files embedded with your geo-location information with us, please do not upload photos or videos. If you do not want to store location data in your photos or videos, please consult the documentation for your device to turn off that feature.

b) How Is Your Personal Information Used?

The Application uses your Personal Information to provide you with the information and services that is directly relevant to your use of the Application. Specifically, we may use the Personal Information collected to provide you with personalized mobile application experience to identify you as a user, to securely manage your account, and to use internally for auditing, data analysis, and research to improve FRATS's products and services.

2. How Is Your Personal Information Used?

The Application uses your Personal Information to provide you with the information and services that is directly relevant to your use of the Application. Specifically, we may use the Personal Information collected to provide you a personalized mobile application experience. For example, first name, last name, emails are used for the unique identification of the user. Location services in the driver app are used to identify the driver’s current location so that the nearest job can be assigned to them. They also allow passengers to track and locate the driver in real time once the driver is assigned to their ride.

3. Is Your Personal Information Shared with Any Third Parties Outside the University?

We may share your Personal Information outside the University as required by law, order of governmental authority, or court order to be disclosed; when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request. We may also share your Personal Information if permitted under University of Illinois policy, authorized by an approved University of Illinois contract, for good cause by the Chancellor or the Vice President for Academic Affairs of the University of Illinois. The University does not sell or lease your Personal Information to third parties.

The Application may contain links to other websites, which in no way represent any endorsement or affiliation between University of Illinois and that third party. We do not exercise control over third party websites and encourage you to exercise caution before activating the link and to read the other website privacy policies.

4. How Is Your Information Protected?

We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect information processed by the Application. No method of transmission, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

5. Where Will the Information Be Stored?

All Personal Information and Non-Personal Information is stored in the Application. Your Personal Information and Non-Personal Information is also stored on a secure cloud-based server.

6. Opt-In and Opt-Out Information

You may change your information preferences and opt-out of information collection by adjusting your device's app permissions for the FRATS app and/or by uninstalling the Application.

7. How Long Is Your Personal Information Stored?

We will retain user personal information for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable time thereafter. If you would like us to delete your Personal Information that you have provided via the Application, please contact us at fratss@uic.edu and we will respond in a reasonable time. Please note that some or all the user Personal Information may be required for the Application to function properly, and we may be required to retain certain information by law.

8. Changes to this Privacy Notice

We may amend this Privacy Notice from time to time. If we amend this Privacy Notice, we will post the changes on Privacy Notice. Your continued use of the Application after any such changes will constitute your acceptance of the updated Privacy Notice. If you do not wish to accept the revised Privacy Notice, you must not use or access (or continue to use or access) the Application. Please regularly check the Application or website to determine if the Privacy Notice has been updated and to review those changes before deciding whether to access (or continue to access) the Application.
