That’s
something the University of Illinois at Springfield can say about its
College of Business and Management, which was accredited by the Association
to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB)
in early 2007. Only 28 percent of US colleges and schools of business
are accredited -- including the colleges of business in Chicago and Urbana-Champaign
-- and only 10 percent of business programs worldwide are similarly recognized.
Earning AACSB accreditation is a voluntary, multi-year process during which a school develops and implements a plan to meet a wide range of quality standards. Peer review teams of academic and administrative officials visited UIS to evaluate the college.
The
UIS College of Business and Management, located in the Business Services
Building, offers programs in accountancy, business administration, economics,
management and management information systems that prepare students for
challenging careers and positions in the private and public sectors. The
educational needs of traditional and nontraditional learners are met by
the college, reflecting the historic diversity of the Springfield campus
community.
UIS pairs academic excellence with small class size, high-quality programs
and internships in public affairs, journalism and government for a unique
educational experience. Making a difference in the world is a tenet of
the UIS educational philosophy.
