UA Website Design

Common Look and Feel

In the fall of 2012, University of Illinois President Robert Easter affirmed that University Administration units should work toward a similar look and feel to UA websites in order to clearly identify UA units, which provide critical services and resources across the University.

UA Online Community

UA staff who work on web and other online projects can subscribe to a list and receive periodic news about web and online initiatives. Add your name to this list by following the instructions on the subscribe page. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Content Management Software

Many UA websites use SitePublish, a web-based content management system (WCMS), provided by AITS. Other software choices are available.

Style Guide

A new style guide based on the new look to the UA home page is available (version 1.0, March 2013). UA staff with questions, comments, or edits are asked to contact Ginny Hudak-David at 217-333-6400 or by sending email to infosource@uillinois.edu.

Favicon

Because the University does not have a logo, the approved favicon displays the standard University abbreviation -- UA -- for University Administration. You may download a copy of the ico file for use on your UA website. Or use this URL: http://www.uillinois.edu/UserFiles/Servers/Server_1117457/Image/Theme/uaNEW_favicon.ico

Feb 2013 Launch of New Website

A new website, with a design executed by Michelle DeYoung in AITS, launched in February 2013. Anchored by the UA wordmark and a strong navy-blue design element containing audience navigation, the design is clean and crisp with a pale grey page background and a white-background content area. The number of links on the home page more than doubled with the new presentation, giving readers faster access to the services and resources provided by UA units to the University campuses and staff.

Todd Nelson, PhD, of AITS migrated UA pages, implemented the website design, and made the SitePublish styles and templates work well on mobile devices. The scrolling image originally on the website was implemented by Melanie Kuehn in University Relations using WebTools. The site now uses scripting within SitePublish for the images on the home page.

The CSS for the website is available for downloading.

Please send any feedback on the new design or functionality to infosource@uillinois.edu.
