UI President Edmund James born
Edmund J. James became President of the University of Illinois in
1904. He commissioned the construction of Lincoln Hall in 1909 and
is remembered for spearheading the development of a larger research

Morrow Plots given landmark status
Named after George E. Morrow, the first dean of the College of Agriculture,
the Morrow Plots were established in 1876 and were the first experimental
soil plots to be established by a university. Officially dedicated
in 1968, today the Morrow Plots consist of only three of the original

Buckminster Fuller delivered the keynote speech for "Alternatives in Environments and Technology" Week, during which Dr. Robert Sipe and his students built a large geodesic dome. Solar panels were added later. Learn
