The University of Illinois launched a revised website design on June 1, 2007. Redesigned at the request of President B. Joseph White, the website reflects input from staff and students on the three University of Illinois campuses and from staff in university (central) administration.
The new home page and "skin" offers easy- to-find links to administration offices as well as the variety of research, teaching and outreach excellence found across the campuses. The site uses Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for consistency and is accessible and dynamic.
The new skin was also developed with portability in mind. Several university administration units have already adopted the new look. The navigation can be customized.
Central administration units planning an update to their web pages are encouraged to consider the new university administration skin. Elements of the look (the main navigation, the side navigation, the ) can be customized. Early exploration of the value of using the new look for the pages will result in an easier transition from an existing look to the current design. Some examples of customized pages are the Office of the President, Board of Trustees, and Planning and Budgeting.
Units that would like to adopt the look and feel (the "skin" of the new pages) are encouraged to contact Lenore Borisova at 217-333-6400 for more information and for assistance in customizing the pages.
Also contact Lenore Borisova at 217-333-6400 if you need assistance to develop a new site or pages. She is also available to assist UA units with CSS development, surveys, calendars, and other tools.
