B. Joseph White, 57, was announced Nov. 2 as the 16th president of the University of Illinois; he will begin Feb. 1, 2005. White is a former dean of the Business School at the University of Michigan and served as interim president there in 2002. He earned degrees from Georgetown, Harvard and U-M.
