"The Lawyer of Springfield": An Evening of Reader's Theatre
February 21, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in Brookens Auditorium, Springfield
Join us for a reading by UIS faculty and students of Ronald Gow's provocative one-act play "The Lawyer of Springfield." A touring company attempts to open a new theatre building in theatre-less Springfield, IL. The local city council, fearing an assault on public morality, subsequently tries to deter these plans by enacting an exorbitant fee for the new structure. But then a tall, dark stranger arrives — a young lawyer who recognizes the injustice being perpetrated. A panel/audience discussion will follow the reading.
