Securing brilliant futures
The University of Illinois Foundation is a partner with university and campus staff to secure funding to maintain and improve the excellence of the University of Illinois.
Along with the president and chancellors, UIF staff identify strategic private support priorities and develop the plans and resources to address them. From its headquarters in Harker Hall — the oldest building on the Urbana campus, built in 1877 — the Foundation coordinates Brilliant Futures: the Campaign for the University of Illinois that was announced in 2007. The campaign goal is $2.25 billion in private support.
Major funding priorities include support for:
- dedicated researchers and teachers
- student aid to keep tuition affordable
- programs to keep the campuses competitive
- annual funds that give campuses and colleges flexible funds to meet current priorities
- the endowment
Each campus charts progress toward its campaign goals and highlights on its website generous gifts from alumni and friends. The Brilliant Futures campaign is scheduled to finish in 2011.
Established in 1935, the University of Illinois Foundation is an independent not-for-profit corporation whose role is to procure private support for the University. UIF serves the University of Illinois by encouraging and administering the private gifts that provide support for the institution.
