Executive Offices

University administrative offices report to either the President or one of the Vice Presidents: Academic Affairs, Administration & Finance, Research, or Health Affairs.

The executive offices that report to the President are: University Audits, University Counsel, University Ethics, Governmental Relations, Human Resources and Equal Opportunity, and the Office for University Relations.

Christophe Pierre

Christophe Pierre

Vice President for Academic Affairs

Dr. Pierre is the chief academic officer for the University. He is responsible for defining and shaping strategic academic priorities and directions of the university, providing advice on academic policy issues and supporting academic initiatives. On behalf of the president, Dr. Pierre also chairs key University-wide committees and serves on the University Policy Council with the other vice presidents, chancellors and university officers. These offices and units report to the VPAA:

 

 

Walter Knorr

Walter Knorr

Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Comptroller

Mr. Knorr is the University's chief business and financial officer and comptroller of the University, elected annually by the Board of Trustees. Knorr serves as treasurer of the University of Illinois Foundation and is an ex officio member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association board of directors. He has management oversight and responsibility for these offices and functions:

Jerry Bauman, Pharm.D.

Interim Vice President for Health Affairs

Jerry Bauman was named interim VP for Health Affairs in July 2013. The dean of the UIC College of Pharmacy, Bauman served as UIC's interim vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost in 2011.

Created by the University of Illinois Board of Trustees in 2010 in recognition of the wide scope of the University's clinical health care enterprise, the office of the vice president for health affairs provides oversight of the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (HHSS); connects the clinical mission of the hospital to the research and teaching missions of the University; and is charged with generating additional clinical revenue.

The VP-Health Affairs reports to the president with a secondary reporting relationship to the vice president/ chancellor of the UIC campus.

Lawrence B. Schook, Ph.D.

Vice President for Research

Lawrence Schook is the Vice President for Research.

The office was created by the University of Illinois Board of Trustees in 2010 and includes oversight of the University’s $900 million-a-year, externally funded research enterprise as well as technology and economic development activities. The new office assumes the responsibilities formerly performed by the Office of the Vice President for Technology and Economic Development, including the following::

The Vice President for Research reports to the President and works closely with the chancellors, provosts, and vice chancellors for research on each campus.
